Last year, Microsoft confirmed that to use other third party anti-virus solutions instead of the Microsoft Security Essentials. Yet, it is still good news (well for me it is), because Lavasoft also launched its Ad-Aware 11 Edition in the market. Of course Lavasoft are best known for their all Ad-Aware products, which provides a solution for many IT users needing to remove the spyware from their computers.

So, before proceeding with the installation, look first into its different details.

NOTABLE FEATURES

Lavasoft offers a range of internet security products, but there’s an entry level product and that is the Antivirus+. Obviously, from the name itself, this antivirus has plenty of benefits. It offers core protection against threats on the internet. It inspects your network and eliminates the threats before reaching your PC. It also features real time anti-virus and even anti-spyware engines, download protection, web-filters for a safe browsing and rootkit protection, which is very important and can give you the power to protect yourself online. (However, it’s also fair to say that some web browsers already do this).

But what I like best is its sandbox emulation feature that allows you to run some suspicious software in a virtual kind of environment, which protects your computer from potential infection, a feature that I haven’t seen elsewhere. Ad-Aware Antivirus+ also automatically skips the files that have already been scanned from the future virus scans, that makes the scan faster. This is also good for gamers, like me because it has a gaming mode that makes Antivirus+ run silently when you are playing games or even watching movies so that you will not be interrupted. Overall, Ad-Aware Antivirus+’s features is very sensible and that made me pressed the install button.

INSTALLATION

I had my Ad-Aware Antivirus+ installed on my PC which runs a Windows 7 Professional. Other operating systems that can use it are Windows XP, windows, Vista and Windows 8. You just have to go the lavasoft’s website and click download. It has a 2.68 MB file size and no additional requirements. It has also 386,804,990 total downloads. After the download is complete, just locate the installer file and double click to open. Next, click yes or run and follow the installer instructions. Just read the instructions to setup the software.

CONCLUSION

One thing that I don’t like about Antivirus+ is the hassle to upgrade to commercial products. You may wonder why do you need to upgrade when in fact all what you want is a total antivirus. But of course, it can complement well if you purchase those commercial security products of Lavasoft. In terms of its interface, it’s pretty good. I had mine installed and at the moment, it’s doing good.

Good

The fact that it is affordable, well you cannot be a hundred percent sure that it's the best anti-virus out there. However, if you are looking for a good anti-virus with some notable features mentioned, then I think Lavasoft's Ad-Aware Antivirus+ may not be enough enough.
