NATIONAL BETTER BREAKFAST MONTH, SEPTEMBER

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet the most often skipped. Beginning your day with a healthy meal or snack has been linked to higher test scores for children and better performance in the workplace. Eating breakfast will improve your mood as well!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: I don’t have time to make a healthy breakfast. But breakfast doesn’t have to be a big ordeal, just incorporate key elements that will support a strong start to your day! If you do have time to craft something up in the kitchen, go for some protein pancakes or protein French toast!

Here are a few great breakfast recipes that will get you out the door quickly.

PEANUT BUTTER BANANA SMOOTHIE

This shake is quick, healthy and easy!

What you’ll need:

(*Recipe makes 1 serving.)

1 frozen banana, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, 1 cup (of your choice) milk, 1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla or chocolate).

How to make:

Put all of the above ingredients in a blender and enjoy!

Tips for this smoothie:

If you’re looking for some additional free time in the AM, you can make this smoothie the night before. And add oats in you like your smoothies a little thick!

PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

This smoothie is quick, healthy, easy and a kid favorite!

What you’ll need:

1 cup of mixed frozen berries, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, ¼ cup of Performance Whey (vanilla or chocolate), 2 tablespoons of oats and 1 cup (of your choice) milk.

How to make:

Place all ingredients in blender, mix till smooth and enjoy.

Tips for this smoothie:

Any PI Protein Powder will work for this smoothie. However, if you are going to give this to your child, we recommend the Performance Whey. It is always a good idea to check with your child’s doctor before serving them protein powder. This smoothie is also best right after it is made.
