As Captain Phillips movie amazed you with Tom Hank’s role as a captain, will you be amazed with this new iPhone app, named after him? One of the greatest things about having an iPhone is you have lots of varying applications to choose from. As a writer, what are the apps that attract you? A typewriter, perhaps? Well, if you are an avid writer, this Hanx Writer might have been created just for you. And for the record, Tom Hanks is its developer.

Hanx Writer is a word processing application that allows you to create an article using an old-fashioned, yet very powerful typewriter. This could be an old school app, but writers value the tools and the methods that they use. People who were born in the modern generation might not appreciate it, but to those who experienced writing with the use of a typewriter, it’s something different. Different in an amazing way.

Hanx Writer Features

A Mimic

Hanx doesn’t only imitate the appearance of a typewriter, but also its overall functionality. A perfect mimic is done by removing both auto-capitalization and auto punctuation. Forget those modern computerized features in the meantime. Stick to the old-fashioned way and experience how the Nobel prized writers in the former years create their amazing art. With Hanx, you can disable the modern delete key. To determine and remove your mistakes, you can set a large X instead of manually deleting them.

Feel what old writers have felt using the typewriter by using this app. No more editing. Once you are done with your article, you can no longer edit it – just like the typewriter. The ink is similar with the typewriter’s and you can export the finished article in PDF format through email or cloud services.

The Modern Aspect

There are, however, some modern features included in Hanx Writer app. Aside from the nostalgic feel, there is a spell checker to correct spelling errors. Words are underlined like those in the modern word processing applications. You can also make the app work similarly with a word processor through purchasing additional features. Some of the available features allow you to add pictures, create title pages, change ribbon and background colors, etc.

Usage

Hanx writer is easy to use. You can easily navigate the features in the app, and have a typewriting experience inclined in the modern feel. You will find the keyword easy to use as well, as it is fast and responsive. It is also possible to split the keyboard so that you can facilitate easy touch-typing. This then makes you type a bit slower compared to other word processing apps. The most ideal articles to write using this app are short letters and notes.

Hanx Writer con

If you haven’t known, Hanx Writer doesn’t support Mac processors. If you own a Mac device, you won’t experience this amazing app.

PROS:

  • Great Features
  • Excellent Interface
  • High Quality Graphics

CONS:

  • does not support Mac

Good

Many users have loved this new app. It's probably due to too much dive into modernity that people have longed to bring back some things in the past which have molded the world to become what it is today. Hanx Writer emerged to give that old-fashioned writing way and bring back the old school dancing once again.

I’m Joseph, and I started this blog as a way to share ideas with others. I wanted to create a space where people could share their thoughts and feelings, and where we could all have a good laugh. Since then, the blog has grown into something much larger than I ever imagined. We have posts on everything from humorous essays to comics to interviews. And our weekly columns cover sports, video games, college life, and software.
