The Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 was released a few months ago, and since then, it has garnered a positive reaction from nearly all of its consumers. Available in both Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows, the company is definitely looking to be number one in the anti-virus world. Anyway, judging from experience, we can safely say that this software is highly impressive and will meet most, if not all, of your expectations. So, let’s take a look at some of its most notable aspects:

Prices: Is it worth every penny?

Rather thaKasperskyAnti-Virus 2015n the capabilities of a software, most consumers look at the prices first before spending their time on reading what it can do for them. If it’s too expensive, they turn their backs, and move on to check cheaper options. This is contrary to what they’ll do if they check out the Kaspersky Anti-Virus: it’s inexpensive at $39.95 a year, while a two year subscription is at $54.95. These prices are relatively lower compared to other anti-virus software, and more efficient at that.

Installation: the requirements

You can directly download the file from Kaspersky’s website (it’s much safer than purchasing from third parties) or purchase it in a CD form from a computer store. It takes up quite a bit of space (obviously) but it’s still smaller compared to the other files you have on your computer, like games, songs, movies and other forms of multimedia. It requires at least a Windows XP operating system, and is compatible with Vista, Windows 7 and 8. It requires a 1 GHz processor, along with two gigabytes of RAM: you need a powerful computer to run a powerful anti-virus software!

Before installing the program, the installation wizard will ask your permission to automatically remove certain types of software, like other Kaspersky Lab products and anti-virus software from other companies. This comes in handy – which means you don’t have to remove them manually. After clicking the install button, all of the processes that come after are self-explanatory, an added plus in the “user convenience” category. Lastly, you don’t have to restart your computer after the installation – something that most users hate doing.

Does it interfere with other programs?

Other than requiring you to uninstall other anti-virus software from other companies, the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 works hard NOT to interfere with whatever you’re doing. In the settings section of the program, you will see that it will refrain from making scans while your PC or laptop is running low on battery power. Other than that, imagine having receiving a sudden notification while trying to beat a boss in a computer game. The program avoids such occurrences. That aside, it won’t dramatically affect performance and the speed of the computer despite the large amount of storage space it takes up.

Features: what it provides

Other than protecting your computer from all types of malware or malicious software (viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware and bots), it dishes out the following as well:

kaspersky for pc

  • Provides information if the websites you are visiting are secure, especially e-commerce sites wherein online transactions are being made.
  • Checks your operating system and the applications on your computer for any vulnerabilities and finds ways in order to control them.
  • Anti-phishing. Relatively new, this is basically an attempt to steal information from your computer, like your usernames, passwords and most especially, your credit card numbers. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 blocks any attempt.
  • If your computer somehow becomes infected with malware, this program will detect and undo its effects on your computer.
  • Keep in mind that Kaspersky’s database is updated with new malware every minute, and it updates frequently in order to keep its users’ computers protected.

PROS:

  • Provides optimum protection.
  • Easy to install.
  • One of the highest rated by independent test labs.
  • Doesn’t interfere with your computer programs
  • Easy-to-tweak settings.

CONS:

  • No Mac version – yet.

How competitive is it?

As of today, there are dozens of anti-virus software hoping to make a dent in the consumer market. Some are competent enough to protect you from decade-old viruses, while others can’t even detect a Trojan when your computer is obviously infected. Among the multitude of software, the three that stand out are Avira, Bitdefender and of course, Kaspersky.
