Traditions Senior Living Summer Resident Spotlight

Boyd considers himself to be a very fortunate man and lives his life with a positive attitude and no complaints. He has been calling Traditions of Athens home since December. Boyd emphasized how good everyone has been to him here at Traditions.

“Everyone here has been very good to me. This is the place to be. Anything you need, they’ll get it for you. Dana (Traditions of Athens’ Executive Director) has been mighty good to me, and of course, my children.”

Being near his family is important to Boyd.  He moved to Traditions so he could be closer to his daughter. He used to live well over six hours away from her in South Carolina but now is a convenient 10-minute drive. Boyd now gets to see her five days a week.

Boyd loves participating in all the activities at Traditions. “I stay pretty busy.”  Boyd enjoys watching sermons in the theatre room on Sundays.  He’s also a big fan of games.  His favorite is Bingo, which he goes to twice a week.  Other games he loves to participate in include card games and badminton balloon. It’s clear that Boyd stays active by participating and is very happy here. The Program Director Ashley Brown is constantly coming up with new and exciting games for the residents.  HerLet’s Play Series brings favorite TV game shows to life.  Minute to Win It is always a crowd pleaser.

Boyd motto in life is, “Live each day as it comes and enjoys it.”  At Traditions, we couldn’t agree more.  Our goal is to encourage each of our residents to lead a healthy and productive life. We seek to engage our residents in spiritual, educational, social and physical activities that are resident-centered and resident-led.

I’m Joseph, and I started this blog as a way to share ideas with others. I wanted to create a space where people could share their thoughts and feelings, and where we could all have a good laugh. Since then, the blog has grown into something much larger than I ever imagined. We have posts on everything from humorous essays to comics to interviews. And our weekly columns cover sports, video games, college life, and software.
